Hiring: Technical Operations Lead

A tech generalist to own InJoinery’s technology, systems, and processes. London, Hybrid with 4+ days in office, Full-time, £45–55k

About InJoinery

InJoinery is a London-based specialist labour agency that connects joinery manufacturers with premium joinery fitters for high-end installation work.

The role

A tech generalist to own InJoinery’s technology, systems and processes. The focus is on building and improving the tools and infrastructure that make the business run — not on day-to-day operations, though you’ll occasionally lend a hand when the ops team needs support.

You’ll be joining at a pivotal moment. We’ve run on Airtable for nearly four years and are now moving toward a custom-built web app with offline capability. You’ll work closely with our fractional CTO, Ben Edmonds of We Sort, to support and harden that transition.

What you’ll do

Technology. Own and manage our IT infrastructure: Airtable, Google Workspace, devices (a mix of Apple laptops, iOS and Android — company-owned and personal), Discord, DNS, and general tech admin. Contribute to the development of our custom web application, currently being built on a Laravel stack using Claude Code.

Systems. Think critically about how the business works and build better processes, workflows, and data structures to support it. Develop and improve internal tools that help InJoinery operate more effectively.

AI. Explore how AI tools can enable a small business — while being mindful of security, robustness, and legal considerations.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience. Doesn’t have to be purely technical — ideally you’ll have a mixed CV.

  • Comfortable with web development, GitHub, CI/CD — not necessarily an expert, but confident and willing to learn. The sort of person who has opinions about code editors.

  • Experience with Airtable or relational databases is a plus.

  • Laravel experience is a welcome bonus, particularly around stabilising and strengthening a codebase.

  • Good communication skills, comfortable with a remote team of freelancers and, when necessary, directly with clients.

  • A self-starter with a keen eye for detail and a desire to try new things.

Practicalities

Based in our Dalston office, we’d like you in the office at least four days a week. Permanent, full-time employment. Salary £45–55k depending on experience.
